can anyone here who knows how to work with carbon fiber make a piece that fits between the taillights, big enough so that you dont need weatherstripping around it? unless you have to have the weatherstripping, i never took it off so i dont know.

ioTus 04-22-2004 03:54 AM

Yeah this would be cool to have!! My stock one is kind of warped outwards between the two bolts. I would probably be interested, if not just to try it out.

jebenkurac 04-22-2004 08:46 PM

yea, mines warped to hell, but do you know how to work with carbon fiber?

thank god someone finally responded by the way

RotaryXSevn 04-22-2004 09:16 PM

man that'd be bad...i want one

ioTus 04-23-2004 03:00 PM

Ill ask around. I think i know some ppl (or be able to contact some) who could make these.

jebenkurac 04-25-2004 11:45 AM

well ive got a front airdamn and some sideskirts on the way, plus i want top take off the back bumper, like that nopi car. the plan is to get it painted in june, so that would be cool to have, especially without the grooves in it.

miltstheman 04-26-2004 03:43 PM

I want, I want, I want...

mazdaspeed7 04-27-2004 08:29 PM

How many people would be interested, and what price would you be willing to pay?

thafox 04-27-2004 09:25 PM

how bout tail lights also....mayb? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

ioTus 04-28-2004 03:25 AM

I make clear tail lights, i'm thinkin like $100 shipped per pair of lights, so long as you supply the core thats in good condition.

I think i'd be willing to pay $50 to $70 for the center piece.

miltstheman 04-28-2004 10:58 AM

The plastic ones go for ridiculous money new because there is no alternative. I'd be willing to pay $100 for a CF one.

IoTus: If I send you a set of taillamps you'll do your "frosty" clear conversion on them? Sounds good to me! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

ioTus 04-28-2004 11:57 AM

Yeah for about $100 shipped.

By law (in WA anyways) you must have auxiliarry red reflectors elsewhere on the rear of the car to make these legal. however i've never had a problem w/ them.

If you do decide to go w/ these lamps, would i be able to use pics of your car as a demo on my site?

jebenkurac 05-01-2004 11:33 AM

mazdaspeed7, id pay $50 to $70 for a cf center piece

ioTus, i would send you my lights, but thats my only car and i cant drive without taillights

mazdaspeed7 05-01-2004 02:42 PM

Someone put up a good pic of one, preferably off the car. Its been a while since I had an FB, and my recently acquired SA doesnt have the center piece.

jebenkurac 05-02-2004 10:50 PM

what if i mail you mine, will that work?

I want a pic first before I make a decision on making them. Basically, I want to make sure Im not getting into something that will cost more to make than I could sell it for. Ive wasted plenty of tiem doing that in the past, and Ive learned my lesson.

jebenkurac 05-04-2004 10:48 AM

can someone someone snap a pic with their digital camera real quick, i am without

I need to see the mounting points.

ioTus 05-05-2004 04:08 AM

whast your email adress. I have a center piece sitting right here, I can take any picture you need. I have a bunch taken already, w/ a tape measure up against them. They are in a ZIP file, just need your email addy, mine is:

My center panel is curving/bowed outward in the center due to age, temperature extremes, and how rigidly they are attached. I'd like to replace it, either with a straight factory one, or a clear or CF one.

ioTus: Sounds good to me, I'll probably do it this Winter unless I come across a set cheap on eBay to send you...

hey iotus, there's also ways to clear the taillights on you own, and get colored bulbs for the housings, i've seen it on cars like this one. I dont personally find it appealling, but maybe you all will.

Also regarding the CF rear peices, I can do it, but it would cost around 300, I would suggest buying carbon fiber decal and CAREFULLY applying it to you rear center peices. To fix the warping problem you must carefully heat them in an oven at a low heat for several hours to let them settle back flat...its very complex process though and no room for error since new peices go for 200 ea, thats $600 across the back of the car.

racerxtreme7 05-05-2004 05:07 PM

lol mad honda looking,, https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png cf fc tails would look nice,,nuffin crazy tho

jebenkurac 05-05-2004 06:49 PM

okay no crazy ideas and **** more than 100 dollars, just let mazdaspeed7 do his thing

doubleohsmurf 05-06-2004 04:55 AM

just some diy help, trying to help people save $ and trouble, but if you dont wanna diy then fine too.

jebenkurac 05-06-2004 10:24 AM

im just saying that because my center piece is bowing outward and a cf sticker wont fix that, plus i think it would be better if it was just a flat panel without the ridges....and not $300

ioTus 05-06-2004 08:29 PM

Oh well i would want mine to have teh same ribbed effect...
