After 2 yrs. storage I revived '85GS . Engine will not idle or run smoothly in midrange rpm. It will run fine with wide-open throttle. New plugs helped. I suspect carb problems. Any suggestions?

You drain the old gas out or you running with two year old gas?

how did you store the rex ?Was is in storage,or in a dirty field with mice living in the front rotor housing because the exhaust was off?We are rebuilding a sweet ported 12a due to the field senerio,which we will never speek of again.We are also rebuilding three carbs all with different mods to test.Do you still have your rotory in factory condition or is it modified? how many kilometers or miles? email me 84rex@nopistons

It sounds like your carb is full of a fuel deposits or a vaccum leak. I won't ly to ya, Nikki Carbs are pretty complicated compared to some carbs to take apart. But the best way to get it running right is to dissemble it and clean it thoroughly and put a carb-overhaul kit in. After just one winter sitting, my carb was full of pasty looking deposits. IT ran fine for 3days, then one day I went around a corner and suddenly the car died!!! I thought I was out of gas or something blew up. It was the sediment getting stuck in the venturi's and jets and whatnot. It wouldn't start or run good at all till I overhaul the carb. OR, it could be a vaccum leak, they commonly cause rough idle and crusing speed, but full throttle is not effected.. Spray Wd-40 around vaccum hoses, and see if the engine rev's suddenly.
