Well when i start my12a, when its cold it blows blueish white smoke. it will continue to smoke a little until it runs for about a minute. then it clears up. I am new to rotarys so i dont know the first thing. I would on an old v style engine assume some valve guide seals or really work valve guides. Well of course the rotary engine desnt have any. IF you rev it when its cold it will blow just a little smoke, and when warm there is no evidence of any smoke at all. The plugs were a little bit wet upon inspection(all four) What could be the culprit??? Also the previous owner installed a 4bbl carb, its an edelbrock. he somehow mounted it to the stock intake via adapters... kinda cheesy but it runs. I dont know if this half ass install could be it or the cause of it. One more thing, i went to pre mix, and for the time being ran the external oil supply lines back into the crank case.

It's a rotary. That's what they do. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
Seriously, though, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Mine's got smoke on cold starts, too, and it's only got around 1800 miles on the rebuild (granted, I used some used parts). |

I've had great success with Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer. Use 1 or 2 quarts in place of your motor oil. It really helps with worn oil control rings.
