I have decided to bridge port my s4 13b and considering my lack of knowledge I have found someone that will do it for me, they are asking AU$1500, which is about US$800, it covers labour and replacement parts and the porting/pulling apart. Is this a decent deal or am i getting totally ripped? Also, this engine, in the future will hopefully be getting put into a 84/85 rx7, rather than my s1 ('79) is this a wise decision? Thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

Sounds too cheap to me, but then again what do I know. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...closedeyes.gif

It isn't an actuall store that is doing it, it is just someone I know, who happens to be a rotor guru. He owns two 1st gens, and an 13b turbo rx4 that does 10.4sec quarters.

6 port or 4 port?

j9fd3s 05-06-2003 08:40 PM

thats cheap, $800 us barely buys the rebuild parts

Wouldn't have a clue.

rotary fury 05-06-2003 08:44 PM

sounds good go for it.

Series1RX7 05-06-2003 08:44 PM

Yeah, he said "cheap". I might ring Rotormotion, which is our rotary specialists here in Perth, find out how much they charge for the same job.

yea a good bridge port engine can produce about 320 hp with a 4" exhaust set up and cost about $5000-7000 a pop and last about 10,000 miles. The S4 don't take to porting that well and your going to have a hell of a time starting and idealing blow 2000 rpms. I hope you know what you are getting in to. If you have the money go for it.

Series1RX7 05-06-2003 09:25 PM

Extend port maybe?

chase78 05-06-2003 09:47 PM

yea thats the better way to go as far as increasing engine life but still you not going to see a big impruvement in performance if ther port it safe. maybe 5-9% HP gains. But hay you can port it to whatever you want. S4 are great engine in a slightly mod format. get rid of the exhast system and thermo reactor and she can kick some ass. the better engine to mod is the Turbo2

engines. a great combo is turbo 2 engine street ported with 10 to 1 rotors from the 89-91 n/a engines. you can port the exhaust housings without to much trouble and the intake porting is your best bang for you buck without going bridge port for any rotary engine. easy 190-200 hp for under $3000 rebuilt. you have to get a fuel comp and rework the fuel curve but it better then spending $5000-7000 on a engine alone that will not last that long. if you want more info PM.

or if push comes to shove just get a whole t2 drive train. engine tranny harness and ECU. Rebuilt the engine. Get a drive shaft from a 3rd gen rx-7(AUTO TRANNY) and bam you get 200HP. i think its a 3rd gen tranny https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

US$3000 = Est. AU$5,500... I am 18 (low money) and will be paying AU$1500 for the porting the job, most of my internal parts should be ok, and may not need replacing, hence the low price. The engine was only rebuilt about 60,000klm ago, which i think is about 30,000miles... So i would think most of it would be ok. The guy I might be getting to do it seems to think it will be fine with a bridge port... maybe he just wants the cash. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Turbo II 05-07-2003 12:17 PM

great price, just hope its for a 4 port

Series1RX7 05-07-2003 08:17 PM

and if not for a four port?

Turbo II 05-08-2003 03:17 PM

gonna be a challenge to port it
