As of recently, the brake light has started coming on when I make sharp turns. Seems to be more frequent with right hand turns. It eventually just shuts off on it's own.

I've checked the front brakes, and the pads looked nearly new. I haven't been able to check the back though because my driveway is at an incline and I'm not sure how to jack the car up without it rolling. It's a gravel drive, so blocking the wheels might not work so well.

Could it be the rear pads are worn down, or something to that effect?

not too familiar with the first gens but there might be a level sensor on the reservoir...

temporary loss of fluid from the turn might be triggering the brake light to go on..

Sounds like you're low on fluid.

yep!

On the off chance you actually checked the fluid *before* posting on the internet, and the reservoir is full, check for loose wires in the back of the car. There could be a short back there, which crops up when you turn right (i.e. wires swing over and hit something grounded).

But I'm guessing low fluid.

on EDIT: BTW, I believe the only things the brake warning light looks at are fluid level and bulb function (or connection) so looking at pads is pretty unnecessary when you get a warning light.

low fluid.

Yea, it was the fluid. It was about 20% above the minimum line, so I figured there was enough in there, guess I was wrong.

Only time I ever saw a brake light come on when I was driving was the exact moment my brakes went out in my old truck. Didn't know they came on for that.
