While talking w/ RX7CMS last night, an idea came to mind that we should offer a 12A bolt on turbo kit. I have begun talking to our fabricator about this, and he doesn't see it as a problem as he does many turbo setups on the older Rx3s over in AU. My question would be this, what type of kit would you all look for? We might even go as extreme as a GT35/40 Bolt on kit for the FB, but we're not sure if the market is here for such a large turbo kit, so what would you all like to see, the gt35/40, a simple TO4? Let me know as we would like to get things moving. We are always trying to offer parts that nobody else does, and trust me, all of our turbo kits are very well made!

Well, like I said we're still discussing this, but the carb probably wouldn't be a large problem. We would most likely work out a carb system to go with it. We just want to see what everybody is looking for, if we need to make a custom intake manifold and carb setup, then we'll do that too....we're still talking things over.

Mike has the right idea.A 60-1 would be perfect for a 12a because the cost of the kit would be lower and boosting it with a smaller turbo means less chance of you apexs flying thru the turbo.Either a 60-1 or a TO4B setup would work but the parts for the 60-1 are easier to get a hold of by some chance you need something for the turbo itself.Nice to see you guys are coming up with some new ideas Rotaryman88. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Well, its our goal to offer parts and kits that you cant get anywhere else, while keeping the customer's happy. I agree with the 60-1 as far as getting parts to go with it if needs be, but honestly a TO4B setup would be more likely to happen as we have access to those turbos...I'll keep you updated..and yes, the price will be less then our gt35/40 kits for the FC & FDs..but I'll get a better idea on price once we finalize what we're doing.

What would be the ideal setup...carb turbo? and what kind of carb would you use.

For a 12A, I'd say keep it carburetted just to keep it simple, a fairly modest system would be the ticket, something you could get around 200-250hp with for a reasonable price.

as far as which carb to use, it all depends on the background of who you ask. im a bug guy so when i got a carb i went with a dell. my friend opted for a holley.

i think youll be better off with which ever one is easier to tune, since the buyer will be doing most of the tunning. also, you can get holley jets and parts just about anywhere.

Well, just a little update on this. Our fabricator has already made 12A carbed turbo kits for some of his customers in AU that still utilize the carb setup, so we will most likely stick with a carb setup. What carb will it be? Well, we'll determine that a little later. We're still working on getting some GT35/40 kits out to customers right now and once they go out...we'll start more work on the FB kits..oh, and the turbo will most lilely be a TO4B setup. His numbers are usually around 250 on mild ported 12a motor...so with this, you should be able to bolt it up to a stock built motor with carb and run about 180 to 200 hp at 6psi provided your fuel, etc is up to the task. The price is yet to be determined, but it will be cheaper then a camden bolt up supercharge with roughly the same, if not more power potential....

Would that be intercooled?



And if a guy were to get such a kit with the idea of just getting started in the turbo playpen, and planning to upgrade components (bigger intercooler (or add intercooler), uprated fuelling, etc) later, how much power could such a turbo support roughly?
