Just wondering if anyone here owned a fb with a blower on it.

Yeah I have a blown SE with a streetported 13b. Current plans this winter include stiffer motor mounts (hockey puck variation), modifications to the Camden lower intake manifold (top secret, lol), and water methanol injection. It is a nice torque monster that comes on hard out of the hole. Included is a pic of my winter backyard cruiser.

The person from Washington is codeblue2 and codeblue. They are on this forum. And they are actually selling their setup...It was one hell of a snappy ride but never produced hp like a turbo.

Don't knock the s/c until you drive one. I know they never got the "peak" hp hoped for but there is no question they have enjoyed the ride. There is something to be said for the lagless torque of the s/c. You put a 325hp 396 against a 350hp 350 in the same car and the big block will win (trust me, I've owned both, at 43 there's been many trips around the block). I have a buddy here with a TII putting down over 225rwhp who still hesitates to race me even though I only showed 168 from mine (code blue hit 210, but different dyno's and different elevation and they are running efi and a microtech). When his TII hits boost he moves but my holeshot is hard to beat with all but the awd cars. The only ones to beat me last summer were a twin turbo stealth, subaru wrx and a nissan skyline. Do'in some changes with good expectations this winter. Dollar for dollar, a turbo "will" net more hp, don't get me wrong, but a camden is very reliable, streetable and gives a great - wide powerband. If you're an old dog like me who can rebuild, tune, rejet and retune a holley with your eyes closed ,mess with a distributor and love old musclecar torque than a camden is for you! If you have mastered your laptop, feel more comfortable tuning your car with a keyboard and like a brief but sudden rush of acceleration, than a turbo is for you. Dollar for dollar, the laptop tuner with a turbo and standalone would beat my car for what I spent, but mine is a sweet thing to drive and I can tune everything myself.

I have ridden in a SC 7. Actually Blue. I have to admit that it was one hell of a snappy ride. Great torque.
I just don't like the idea of not having an IC. With Camden you do not get that. But I do not want to make this a SC vs turbo thread. For me I would go with a different brand SC that would allow for an IC. |
FYI blue is having the supercharher taken off and replaced with a turbo.
If you want a supercharger, go with a screw type supercharger. Dont go with a camden roots type blower, its in efficient, and will never make the power you want it to. |
