EVERY bike rack on the market seems to hook over the edge of a trunk lid on four sides. Anyone with a first gen knows we might have two sides at best. I ride road bikes a lot, and frequently
buy used/vintage ones as well. I'm about half sick of tearing the bike down completely two times( and rebuilding it two times), every time I head out to do a ride. Is there a solution? Post pics if you have found something that works?,,,,BB |
ive seen it, but you might need a time machine....
they used to have one that put the bike like on the glass hatch, maybe you could adapt one? |
get one of those roof mounted ones, i think thats the only way you'll be able to take a bicycle with a first gen.

Roof mount on the hatchback, although the hatchback would become unusable with that kind of weight. I have the sunroof model. I was just thinking of the front wheel axle holders mounted on the roof
just forward of the hatchback Then a piece of custom bent sheet metal double side taped to the hatchback, with a tiedown strap. Interesting idea anyways. I would have to remember to put the front wheel in first though, or I'd have to pass it over the high back buckets. Nutserts in the roof might not look that bad, hehe.,,,,BB |

So I'm a hippy for riding a bike, or do you just like typing that for no apparent reason?,,,,BB

I have a saris bones 3 bike rack and it works fine on my FB. It has 6 attachment straps (2 to top, 2 bottom 1 to each side) so its really stable on the car. I attach mine entirely to the glass hatch and have never had any problems. I thought about buying their longer top and bottom straps to see if I could get it to sit on the bumper but its fine as it. Only prob I have is 1-2 bikes is max without resting a bike on your car.
