Well, I gotta rebuild the carb on the '85 S... (same car I was asking about in the "Newly Purchased Car Won't Start Thread," but I didn't feel like ressurecting that thread), 'cause it is one fantastical mess in there. The jets were completely gummed up, and the gaskets were worn to hell as well. Anyway, where's the best (read: cheapest) place to get a carb rebuild kit? I checked out Mazdatrix and they sell one for like $75 or so, which isn't so bad, I guess. Also, does anyone know if the Mazdatrix kit comes with the two little fuel inlet screens or not? They sell them seperately, so I wasn't sure if they came in the kit or not. Thanks! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Jeez you just can't stop yappin, can ya? yap yap yap yap yap goes the ZenRX https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png ...lol...anyways, I'd check out local auto parts stores as well on the rebuild kits, that's where I got the one for my SE, although that was a Holley carb, not a Nikki or whatever the hell came on the stock RX-7's...

Yeah, I got one from Napa, for like $40 or so. Not too shabby. Anyway, as an update to the project, I drained the gas tank.... like 8 gallons of putrid orangish-brown rotten gasoline. Yippie. Now, how do I dispose of this without setting it on fire on my driveway/street/neighbor's front lawn?

Then I pulled the tank off to get a peak inside, and it looks nice and clean. No rust whatsoever. Yippie! There's some miscellaneous unidentifiable particles sittin' around in there though, so I wanna flush the tank, but I'm not sure what's the best way to go about doing that. Anybody got any ideas? Oh, and I need to replace the connectors for the fuel level sender wires. They're nice and corroded.

The tank is super rusty on the outside though, so I figure I'll just sand away at it and then coat it with a rust-proof primer or something. How's that sound? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

hey there.. most radiator repair shops have a big tank that they use to boil out radiators... at least the one in my hick town in Ohio does.. so anyways you should be able to get it done and even have them test it for a pinhole leaks and such.. good luck

Sweet, I did not think of that. Thanks a bunch. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png
