The ideal exhaust system on a rotary would have a perfect vacuum right at the exhaust port

This is why RX-7's make excellent vehicles for space travel. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

as the judge keeps pointing out, we do live in a rotary universe

so with that whole vaccuum thingy i should get one of those boat water pumps, rig it in place of the cat so it's sucking exhaust out and i'll see hp gains? great that'll be the next hot ricer item "put a wind tunnel in your exhaust!"

borla has those "intercooled" tips....

right, like peristaltic pumps... constant flow equals no air contamination. now, why didnt i think of that.

on my old 12a, i ran a RB header straight back thorugh 2 1/2 pipe, and ending in a crappy ass MagnaFlow muffler. Now keep in mind, i only had (IMO) about 160hp or so. I've never heard an RX-7 sound as sweet as this setup did, although it was loud as hell(well, excluding heavily modded engines). https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Also, zebrenoir, on a piston engine, back pressure is also used for the scavengeing effect. It's used to help pull the intake valves open as the exhaust valves close. Of course, in a rotary, this isn't needed, since there is no valvetrain. Ahh, the wonderful world of rotary! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
