Hey intheburgh here!

Anyone know an easy way to stop the fuel to do the ATF treatment if the engine has a carb? Also after I stop the fuel should i try to start it to empty what's left in th carb.

Thanks in advance

Kill the power to the fuel pump, leave what fuel is left, it wont hurt anything, pour the ATF right in the holes. A small shot of Marvel Mystery oil down the carb probably wont hurt.

Thanks Rob x-7 but I still have some ?'s

* I'mASSuming (we know how that works).

1 That I have an electric fuel pump and I just have to figure out which fuse to pull.

2 The holes you said to pour it in are the spark plug holes (lower holes <ASSuming again>, should I pull the uppers so they don't foul while I do this?

3 I read 4 to 8 oz. of ATF for the engine, How much mystery oil in the carb, and should I do the ATF and the mystery oil at the same time

It's hell being a "F.N.G." to RX-7's

Thanks again

Its been almost 6 years since I had a 1st generation, I cant help you with the pump, but I do know it was under a plate somewhere, maybe under one of the storage bins? A good way to tell if you find the rigght fuse is pull it while the car is running and see if the pump dies. Pull the Trailing ( UPPER ) holes, and bump the engine as you pour, pour some, bump, pour, you get the idea. Mystery oil tells you how much to put in, only put a little shot, it cant hury anything, boat owners do a similar procedure when they winterize thier boats and they sit all winter with it in the carb, so do it and let it sit in there when you do the ATF. By the way, I only use mystery oil, I dont use ATF, but thats just me!

Totally agree with Rob 7. ATF is not designed to be burned whereas MMO is. Pull the top plugs, attatch a narrow rubber hose to a plastic bottle with your MMO in it. Squirt some into the plug holes, bump it over, squirt some more, etc. By squirt I mean only one to two onces. Start car outside, stand back and watch everything scatter from the smoke. After the smoke settles down, take 'er out for a spin. Your car will love you for the MMO treatment. I add about a cupful each oil change to the sump, and a pint into the fuel tank each oil change....Great stuff for Rotaries...

But it is good to let is sit overnight or so to penetrate

The fuse to the fuel pump is the same fuse that controls your dome light - just turn on the dome and start pulling fuses until the lights go out

looked thru some sources and couldn't find which fuse it was. You got me the info just in time I'm leaving work early :p and am giving my REX the MMO treatment, most of a tune-up (minus plugs till this is fininshed), and a weekend off. I'll probably let the stuff sit in there for 4-5 days that should give it time to break the dreaded carbon **** https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/devil.gif !!!!
