I bought a lightweight (14.9lb) steel unit but I cannot find a clutch to match. The unit I purchased does not have a raised lip around the edge to allow the pressure plate to match up. When placed together there is a large gap between the pp and flywheel surface where they should be flush and bolt together. I have a racing beat 4 puck clutch/pp combo.

The guy I bought it from said he thought it was a factory racing part. If anyone is familiar with this unit please let me know. I have a paperweight at this point.

Looking to buy one if I can't locate an appropriate clutch/pp.

i think a 225mm could be a 94-05 miata too?



we've got part numbers to an early factory racing clutch (12a, 4352engine) i dont know if its 215mm or not though

what year is your car? and what year is teh flywheel supposedly from? i know flywheels changed somewhere between first gen models.

My car is an 85. The flywheel is from an unknown year. It was removed from a 12a which as far as I am aware makes it either a 215mm or 225mm. I think it's the 225mm.

I just have no clue what clutch/pp combo to use. There simply is no outer step for the pp to bolt to. I'll work on getting some pics.

What it sounds like to me is that you are missing the little spacers that go between the pp and the flywheel i used to have the lightnend wheel and it used spacers to space the pp and the flywheel apart from each other to take up the space that the factory has for the lip and the 225mm fly whell is the turbo one i do believe

I suppose that's possible. It doesn't seem like a place I would want spacers though. Must be well engineered.

The 83-85's had a 225mm flywheel unlike the earlier years.
