As step 1 towards going EFI, I've installed a Techedge Wideband O2 meter. I've added a digital display in the dash so I can watch it as I drive. At idle it's 12.6, steady cruise it's 13.6, but if I squeeze the throttle gently it goes lean, over 15 some times.

Does this mean the accelerator pump is way out of adjustment? Or possibly busted?

And often, if I jump on the throttle, it'll stumble. If I take off hard from a standing start, riding the clutch to control traction, it's fine.

Don't know if this is the right place to post questions like this; I suspect there is no one right place.

Anyway, all suggestions welcome.

Thats just it, it does stumble.

Yesterday, the AFR hit 17 while accelerating.

But, looking at a wiring diagram, this thing has an "Emissions Control Unit", bolted to the passenger floor I think. Also, on the carb, there's a thing called a "Richer Solenoid", which is activated by a switch (where?) and fed by this ECU. I tried googling last night, and turned up nothing.

The choke circuitry, which also ties into this ECU, has never worked since I've had the car, so maybe this other stuff doesn't work either.

does the accelrator pump work? if you take off the air cleaner lid and step on the gas, WITH THE ENGINE OFF you should see a stream/cloud of gas, in the primary barrels

To really check the AP. http://www.pbandjracing.com/adjusting_the_...erator_pump.htm

Sorry I still havent put up the pics. The richer soleniod only works under very limited conditions. Whats wrong with the choke?

The choke is supposed to stay out when you pull it. Well it doesn't. I use a peg under the **** to hold it out.

The accelerator pump I'll have a look at later today, or more likely tomorrow. Probably it just needs adjusting.

I adjusted up both the throttle cable & choke cable the other day. They were both terribly loose. I get the car serviced regularly at Maztune, who are in the next street from where I work. Guess there's some things they just never look at.

the cables are actually supposed to have a little slack on em, it keeps it from possibly hanging open

Yes I know that.

The choke, I discovered that putting a peg under the **** wasn't doing anything, just taking up the slack.
