There was a company a while back making blower kits for 13b's that had to be converted to a carb, they might have 12a set ups also, but they were the only show in town as far as I know. As far as reliablity, thats a topic that is very debatable. IMHO no they are not as reliable as an FC/D. I owned a fairly low mileage yet very problematic FC, so take that for what its worth. Seems to be a crap-shoot as to getting a good rotary.

Atkins rotary has a supercharger kit for the fb, its kind of pricey but then any kind of forced induction costs big money. I think their basic kit (with a 5inch SC) costs about US$2100, which is more than I bought my car for. You can also get a 7 inch SC for a couple hundred more.

Ive been thinking of getting one for my winter car what's your opinion on that?

Winter as in snow https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif not very good. I would say over all I like them just as much as 2nd gens. you have several options on what you want to do supercharge, turbo 12A, 13B I think its cheaper to fix up than a 2nd gen also. and Very fun to drive.

You guys are spoilt on price https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png
Example Here I can buy a FB, do paint, big brakes, 13B turbo & Microtech, wheels & tyres, cage & all that club racer stuff, and have a car that handles, stops hard, will rip off a mid 12sec 1/4 mile for about AUD $12-13K. Might even get some ICE in the price...... $13K is about what we have to pay for a nice FC T2 stocker! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif |

Yeah, no ****, lets bitch about prices. I got my '79 for $1600 (Canadian $), and it's in great condition. Even got sme extra featers with it like louvres and a rear spoiler. a good find in my opinion. I haven't seen many FCs for sale in my area so far, but a couple of years ago, I saw three stock FDs at a dealership for around $25K-$30K (Can $), and they're hard to find. |
