Ok, been a while since I posted anything, but decided to give an update, because I just did something that fixed a big problem I was having. Recap: I have an 85 GSL-SE that I got for 1300 bucks. It had been sitting for a year, but ran fine, but drove like crap. So, I put Eibach springs, Tokico shocks, all new bushings, and cross drilled and slotted rotors (more on this later, took some modification to the brake pads). and braided stainless oil cooler lines. Anyway, so the car definitly handled better, but was still hard to steer at low speed, and I felt EVERY single bump and ripple in the road. Also, when I hit the brakes, I got this terrible grinding sound from the right front, I thought the brakes were the problem, but closer inspection showed the tire was rubbing on the new springs. (they have two extra turns, so, less clearance, not happy about that.)So, I decided new wheels and tires were in order. I ordered Motegi 15" MR-7 7 spokes (silver) and Falken 195/55 x 15 tires. I wanted the same overall height, with just a little more rim. So, they came today, got them mounted and balanced and installed them. Actually ended up about 1/2 overall taller, but probably because the old tires were shot. BTW, original tire size, stock, is 205/60 x 14. So, I take it for a test ride...no more grinding! I'm clearing the springs. And the biggest thing, a LOT smoother, I mean almost Cadillac ride compared to the old rubber. Now, I suspected those tires were shot from sitting so long, even though they had plenty of tred. I was correct. I never thought tires would and could make such a difference, but they do. So now I'm really happy, and it even steers effortlessly at low speeds, like it should. When I wear this set out, I think I'll try 195/50 in front, and go 205/50 in rear. I think that will give me the perfect setup. Next, and lastly, is paintjob.

Hmmm, I like it. Looks good. Are those motegi's 4 or 5 lug? And where did you get them, they look great.

Any shots of interior, engine bay, miles on car, etc.? Looks awesome!

Yes, Motegi..(I guess American Racing makes Motegi, there was a sticker on the center caps that said American Racing!) I got them at Sears, of all places, they were 75.00 a pice for the wheels, the tires actually cost more, 82.00 a piece...so, with the mounting, balancing, lug nuts and flat insurance, about $850 all together. I had to wait about 5 days, but no biggie. a note about sears, you probably wouldn't think of them right off for wheels and tires, but they actually have their crap together, at least the one by my house does. They have a computer that lists ALL the wheels and tires that will fit the car, and you just decide which ones yuo want. If I ordered the wheels online from Motegi, they are 105 a piece. As for interior, engine pics, sure, here ya go...

more pics...here's what the dash looked like before the glow guages. I like the original dash, just hard to see. The glowguages really make a difference, night and day.

I have the same set of reverse glow guages in my '85 GSL bridgeported 12a. I'll put pics up soon just waiting for a digi cam

Looks good!!! I have the same color 85 SE and I was looking at getting the same wheels, but now that I know you have the same gauges, I think I am going to have and get me some other wheels. LOL

You are no where near GA; Are you?
