27 years later I own a gen-1 again and need some advice from you all.
 

My first RX first fell victim to a home security alarm company’s patrol officer responding to an alarm in 1985. This dam woman ran a stop sign in a blind intersection and creamed my dark grey 1983 beauty. On a side note I remember her last name was Stout, which actually suited her looks well but leaves me conflicted over my love of Guinness. I always figured I would have another and it seems someday is today in this case.

The buy was all impulse, beer in one hand ebay in the other not my usual M.O. but it’s not like I was buying a 280SL pagoda. The car appears to be perfect shape, look here, and is represented to be in “drive it home” condition. I know should have had pre-purchase inspection, might have over paid, should have waited for a private seller car with solid records and so on. Critiques of my actions could be many but life is short and that ship has sailed.

So knowledgeable gen-1 owners what would you want done before hopping in a new to you car, seeing if your now more rotund ass fits where it once did and setting out on a 1000 mile road trip? Unless the dealer can show me it’s been done I was thinking having it moved to a shop perhaps the Mazda dealership for basic fluids and filters change plus a general looking over. If this inspection turns up nothing obvious that needs addressing do any of you have other ideas or suggestions? Does anyone know of a good indy shop with rotary experience in the Boise area? Do Mazda dealers have a clue about these cars?

I was curious if you found any good indy shops here in the Boise, the Guys over at hot wheels and deals i know have had a couple of fast 7s at firebird but they wont order me any parts the mazdatech says they cant find. so i have been stuck to the internet and unable to find anyone trustworthy enough to trust my baby to. 85 gsl-se. sweet car just hit a hiccup or two getting it put back together without some diag tools.
