ok so yeah, im wanting a 1st gen,ie been looking,i was wondering if anyone knew if a 20b would fit into an FB,and if so what do you think it would cost?

treceb 10-09-2003 12:08 PM

itll fit. jesus padilla ran a 20b or 3 rotor NA in the all motor class. so it fits. as far as how much...if i hadnt crashed my car, i prob could have told u in about a year or so...

some jap company had a 4 rotor 1st gen...

j9fd3s 10-09-2003 12:16 PM

well the cost of the motor + 1500 for an ecu/carby + 500 for and exhaust + whatever the mounts are + intercooler? + turbo?

mike

fcrotornut 10-09-2003 12:54 PM

so about 3500 to 4k plus the cost of the car itself.. i need to learn more about the 20b, a N/A 20b in an FB would be verry quick anyway so i think i could settle without the turbo

I was looking at about 10g's for it to be running with a standalone EFI system. But I want a house more right now. Then who knows I might build a 3 rotor 13b hitman engine. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png It would be a unique FB thats for sure.20B's are for bragging rights. You can go alot faster for the money with a 13B-RE or 13BT with upgrades for the same amount.

so you think i could go faster dropping a 13B TURBOII engine into an FB and mod it?

With a turbo that big you'll need slicks at the track to even think of getting these tiny cars to hook up. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

RoTaRyBoYz, that looks totally awesome! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif I like how the smiling smirk of the 20B UIM is looking at us with part of it in the firewall, hehe.

I have a dizzy setup like that JDM car. I'll try to snap a pic today and put it in my thread.

RoTaRyBoYz 10-11-2003 09:16 PM

this past summer i visited Kilo Racing in orlando to see his old 20b drag car, which i must say is freekin awsome....kilo was kinda enough to show me under the hood & even start the 20b peri beast up,which was farking cool....i mounted my motor further into the fire wall than kilo's car because i wanted the best weigh transfer since i'll be running all the weight of a turbo system.....the front cover of my motor is mounted 1" back from where the old 13bt front cover was, so that means i must have moved the 20b about 9-10"" back.....this involved a new tubular crossmember for the lower control arms & another one for the motor, new custom oil pan, mechanical OMP with a BMX bicycle brake cable controling it from the throttlebody......i'm using custom motor mounts & and GM tranny mounts with a new cross member for that too...i've shortened the t2 output shaft (respline) 7" inorder for my tail shaft (shifter) to be moved up....so i have a perfectly balance car with 1/4 of my motor under my dash and my shifter 2" back from the stock location....now my twins wont fit cuz the motor is mounted so far back into the firewall, so i'll be running a T-78 or T-88 with a cuztom manifold......if i run a haltech E11 then i'll switch to electronic OMP......this is not a CHEAP,SHORT term project,i plan to spend about $40k on the car at the time of completion....i'm gonna run a 9" IRS from dutchman motorsports with 12" wide HRE 18's out back....with the IRS i should run 9.90's-10.20's with slicks and with a solid axle with 12" wide slicks and ladder bars i should see 7.90's-8.20's.....BTW this is WILL be a street car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Jeff20B 10-13-2003 01:49 PM

Wow, that's cool. Why not start a thread in the 20B section detailing your progress like I have? One thing though, you've got to update it often.

So what you're saying is it's really not worth it to buy a 20b to put in an FB, because the 13BT swap can make the same power (or near) for less money?

I dream of FDs, but a more feasible option for me is buying an FB and swapping a motor in it.

What sparked my interest in all this 20b stuff is that there was one on the Parts Trader for $4500. I thought that was cheap. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

RoTaRyBoYz 10-16-2003 09:50 PM

buying the motor is the cheapest part for the project....i think it'll be cheaper to build a 20b 2ndgen that it is to build a 1st gen....with a 1st gen every factory part have to be upgraded....u could build a sick 13b with big turbo & heaps usable power for 1/2 of what a basic 20b would cost u....have u ever driven in a 1st gen with t2 swap??? its sick

j9fd3s 10-16-2003 11:00 PM

yah the 1st gen is light, and a 13bt could be scary in pretty mild form (300rwhp)
