just the moment i went to pay and get my new engine,i found on the parts store a 20b block propably from an imported cosmo.the guy who owns that shop doesn't know the value of this engine and he told that he should sell it to me for $300!!!But there is no manifolds,no throttle body,no ignition avialiable.just the short block.i'm thinking of getting it,rebuilt it and street-port it with the help of a friend who has done it many times before(to a 13b).for intake i'm thinking of 3 sets of twin throttle bodys.see, i like the idea of going N/A with a large amount of torque and reliability.
can the 20b be repaired with 13b gaskets and seals? where can i find intake & exhaust manifolds and of course the triple distributor?can i use 13b front cover and flywheel on it? any suggestions should help. |
Man $300, what a deal, I think the cheapest I've seen a 20B over here is about $3500AU!! As far a I know you can use 13B parts for the 20B. Unfortunately I'm not sure about your list of bits you need. I've got a few contacts in the import business over here, so I'll look into it for you.

thanks man.i thought that i can also made custom intake and exhaust manifolds.but i know what to do with the ignition.do you know how it works?

hey dude see if he has anymore ill pay for one too.yes u can use 13b rebuild kit its all the same.need any help just ask

please let me know if i can also use flywheel and front cover from 13b in order to use the 13b stuff(alt, pumps etc)?and what could i use for the ignition?i've got the 13b overhaul tape(atkins rotary) and the haynes manual too.i 'm only afraid of how should i place the eccentric shaft and the 3rd rotor while the re-assembly of the engine to avoid bad rotor timing?is there any 20b guide avaliable?

everything on a 13b and 20b is interhcangeable.well almost everything.
water pump front cover rotors rear housing alternator bellhousing pattern rear housing to bell housing pattern a stationary gear should be located inside the peripheral housing with the rotor to place it on the e-shaft for a perfect 120 degrees.if it is not so,tip make a mark a take a picture on how it is to be place.this will help.but the rotors are seperated by 120 degrees unlike the 180 degrees of a 13b.u can do this equation by taking a full rotation of 360 degrees and divide it by the amt of rotors u have.hope this helps.hey look out for me on a core.see if there is any body else with any. |
um ignition u can use one aftermarket igniter i have a drawing from motec on how to wire trailing and leading to it.or u can go to 3rotor.com and see if they have the stock twin ignition system the 20b uses.i can also tell u how to wire the one igniter setup.just let me know when u get there.if it gets to be too much of a problem.let me know ill give u a good price on the core.but yes u can use the rx7 flywheel.

i just saw a racing beat's ingition solution.they offer a special distributor cap fits to 81-85 el.distributor and doing all the job.
what do you thing?i've heard that a ported 20b N/A with 6 injectors, big throttle bodies and complete exhaust can produce up to 320hp.is that right? |
