i have a little https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif 12a https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif but ive talked with the NSW Road Traffic Authority (registraion) and they have no worries about me putting in a 13b
ok its 15% more power but its a certified mazda part the worst problem (if any) is getting an engineer to sign it off - so im not worried at all anyway what gen 13b should i have and what could i do to it later its a 1979 model |
anything series 5, or 13B RE from a cosmo.
|
they all fit with about the same amount of work, you just need to decide if you want a turbo or not
mike |
im puting a S5 in my 84 with a carb/turbo set up
|
yeah a 13B-RE a S5 13 NA or even a juiced up 13BT will make a 79 move.Just look at '79rx7's car on his thread here.He has the S4 EFI and NA motor in his 79 and is hitting awesome times for basically a stocker engine with some bolt-ons.

Yeah, because we never got a 13B in the gen 1 cars, you basically use either a s4 or s5 engine, N/A or Turbo. s5 is a more popular choice generally, because the engines are a bit better (bigger ports from memory).
I'm getting a s5 half-cut for my s3 soon. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |

So you're getting a S5 T2 then drifter?Hows the resto coming?
Luis I got a new boot from Mazda, but I haven't welded it in yet. Due to my lack of workshop at the moment, nothing drastic is happening at the moment. I've got to work out what I'm doing about the roof too, cos I can't get a new one from Mazda, so I need to find a non-rusty sun-roof donor car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif |

what about the GSL-SE? series 3 1st gen with a fuel injected 13B Series 4 and 5 had more power, but the GSL-SE engine should be the easiest to install |
That would mean importing, considering we are in Australia. All our 1st gens were 12A's. I am running a S4 13b in my '79.
