I know the basic differances between a 12A and 13B. If i was to swap my 12A turbo for a N/A 13B would it make a differance to my cars performance, waste my time with nothing at all or would i actually lose performance and power? My cars a VW based kit car that weighs 850kg(1874 lbs), A 13B turbo is illegal in such a light car but a 12A turbo or a N/A 13B is ok

Thats very cool!. If its already got a 12AT, you will only be losing potential hp and torque by going with a 13B. Are you still running the stock turbo? A 12AT with a nice upgraded turbo and intake and exhaust should easily be pushing 300 whp. You would have to go with an all out race pp engine if you wanted that out of a n/a 13B.

12a turbo is an easy choice over an NA 13b.
12a's are more reliable also. a shorter thicker apex seal makes sure of that. like the 16x hopefully coming out soon... very cool car by the way... |
Thanks!!
I allways wondered if i had made a mistake sticking with the 12AT. its got awesome performance now but the question always remained and i've never had anything to do with the 13B. But it looks like i've made the right choices. The engine has been blue printed and is stock as is the turbo The kit is a "Eureka" (Aussie version similar to a "Stirling" in the US and a "Nova" in the UK). Direct through the standard VW gearbox which believe it or not can handle the power. 2 1/2 inch exhaust which points forward, splits and then returns out the back. All the anti pollution stuff has been removed. Thanks for your input |
I really hope you don't swap your 12at for an n/a 13b , seriously you will just spend more money on gather parts for the swap and the 12at has SOOO much potential its not even funny
