ok guys heres the deal...........i just got a custom manifold done for my 12a by a friend who specializes in rotary engines and he got me a great deal on all the other parts ( 62-1 garret turbo, 23x20x2.5 intercooler, fuel pump and all the custom fittings) for under 1300$. he asked me afterward if i thought he could sell this setup in a kit online for 12a's with carbs.

so heres the question, how many of you would be interested in a kit for turbo on your 1st gen or any other car with a 12a carby motor? he's making the kits per customer specs meaning that depending on what your hp expectations and your cars porting specs he will make you a kit just for your setup. prices will vary of course but let me just say that your not gonna find a kit for 12a's cheaper, trust me i tried and just ended up going to him

i WOULD BE HIGHLY INTRESTED IN GETTING A TURBO UPGRADE FOR MY NEW MAZDA. I'M GETTING IT NEXT WEEK, IT WAS MY FRIENDS BUT IT GOT IMPOUNDED SO I'M TAKIN IT OUT OF THE IMPOUND AND ITS COMING HOME WITH ME. MY FIRST MAZDA WHICH I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A LONG TIME. SO YES ANYWAYS I WOULD LOVE A MAZDA. HEY WHERE ARE U LOCATED AT. I'M FROM CHICAGO.

I am highly interested as well. I want a turbo, so i can keep up with my dads turbo talon. That would be nice. He's pushing over 300 hp but o well. Let me know if you are going to start selling them.

Yeah sounds good..I have a RacinBeat Holley conversion already...

Remeber this...I can get a 12A turbo engine J spec $900. + shipping stock at 170 or 180 HP...You think you can do a better deal then this?

13b1stgen 07-23-2002 10:20 AM

yeah how about im gonna be doing 400 whp for about 2000$ i dont think you can get much better. especially when that price includes a garret 62-1, custom turbo mani, giant fmic(23x20x2.5) all the fittings, and getting the motor pinned.

let me just say that the turbo alone would cost you about 800-900$ if you tried to get it on your own

YucA 07-23-2002 12:55 PM

and, my friend is looking into modifying a T2 manifold to fit a 12A. how much you think the manifold alone would go for??

thanks.

RotorMotorDriver 07-27-2002 04:33 AM

HELL YES I WANT A KIT!! WHERE DO I PAY? What else is needed though? I mean, assuming someone (me) has a stock Nikki setup, what all would need to be done? I was just starting to look into this myself, and im not sure still on what all needs to happen under my hood...

13b1stgen 07-29-2002 05:40 AM

ok to put a turbo on the stock motor your gonna have to get a carb( 650 double pumper) a fuel pump, fpr, ignition upgrade, and a clutch, but we can supply everything you need except the clutch and ignition

now if you are gonna go this route i suggest getting the motor pinned and while your at it rebuilt and maybe ported but you can put turbo on the stock motor, you just cant go more than 7 lbs of boost

RotorMotorDriver 08-01-2002 03:43 AM

Damn...and i just sold a 650 DP a week ago :(. So I need ANOTHER 650 DP, pump, reg, and the kit. Does this kit have an intake manifold too? Or should I buy that too? When are these kits gonna be available?

~T.J.

13b1stgen 08-01-2002 10:37 AM

well you can use your stock intake mani but the rb mani would be better. now we're not mass producing these kits they're all gonna be custom order units depending on your setup and what you want. so if your really interested pm with what you want and what your set up is or will be and i'll send you a quote on what it's gonna cost you and how long it will take to get it all done :bigok:

rx787fc 04-08-2011 08:26 PM

hey i am looking for a turbo kit for a stock 85 12a motor that is carbureted are you selling any or do you know where i can get one?

thatpoorguy 04-12-2011 11:46 AM

Almost 9yrs later lol I've heard of plenty of people doing blow through setups on the nikkis but it takes modifying the carb. I believe there's a thread around here somewhere about it....

Also instead of a Nikki you can go this route Attachment 16419

thatpoorguy 04-15-2011 11:39 AM

True, I think edelbrock offers the cheapest and most reliable carb to TBI conversion kits, or at least last time I looked around they did.

verneuil 04-19-2011 06:27 AM

My setup is a bit custom:) lol. I cant wait for it to be running and tuned correctly

thatpoorguy 04-26-2011 11:53 AM

Yeah, I still like carb'd because I can tune them myself. Get me around an efi system with an aftermarket Ecu and I can't help you. That's why my fevers taken to the local rotary shop :P

maz_maxRX2 04-27-2011 10:16 AM

if you need some advice on tuning your 12at carb/blow thru set up... PM me cause i"ve been thru my trial and error with this set up, till i finally got it to respond better than an EFI . trust and believe me! Max

maz_maxRX2 04-27-2011 10:19 AM

This goes for any member..........Have a great day my friends!
