Finally got my stock 12A back together and in the car. I've been trying to start it over the past 4 days to no avail.

I'm getting spark and I have fuel to the rotors. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

If your spark timing is correct 9as im sure youve double checked that distributor and you are getting fuel as you mentioned it will start. Remeber that after a rebuild these engines will take a while longer to start for the first time. Here is my suggestion... go buy a new set of plugs and make sure you are hooked up to a good charging vehicle or starter box. The faster your engine is able to turn the better. The thing with the plugs is that during initial start up you will more than likely foul the plugs right off the bat within the first 4 tries... and therefore your mixture will not ignite... ever. So keep pulling the plugs drying them and swapping them out every few tries and it will go.

i like to crank it over without plugs (or fuel) until you see oil pressure, that way it clears all the oil and vaseline out. put plugs in, add fuel, and it should start

^ i do the same thing when starting an engine for the first time.

Regar, i'd say check your timing. did you pull your main pulley apart during the rebuild?

That's a good, one I've done that one before. Put a little oil down the carb. when it does start up take it easy on the motor. Break it in put some good highway miles.
