Last fall I completed assembly of my stock 12A and installed it. I have fuel and spark but failed to start. I suspect the timing to be off.

How do I determine where the timing is and how do I fix it? Here's my theory on why I think the timing is off: The pulley with the timing marks is keyed to the crank, so it would seem resonable that the crank would be installed in such a fashion that when the engine is assembled the timing would be correct or very close. I installed the rotors with one pointing north, the other pointing south. I didn't concern myself with installing the crank in any particular position. Comments would be appreciated. Thanks

i'm not sure that sounds right but also the distributor is adjustable. i've attached the 84 full manual, and on page 199 (of the pdf, not the manual's page number) is where the description of how the ignition system works for the 12a's and how to troubleshoot. best of luck man
