IT LIVES!

Just like and SE! 8 years of silence and rot, and it runs like a kitten... well, and old scruffy kitten... but a kitten non the less.

I definately had to drain the fuel.

Originally, I put in the new fuel pump and fuel filter and I tried running the old fuel through. No Go, gas smelled like detergent... not even gas. So I drained it and replaced it with a gallon of fresh fuel. She started right up... kind of. There was still bad fuel in the lines and she ran rough for a moment or two (having trouble reving up and idling). After giving it a break, I started it back up to rev the **** out of it and see if I could burn out the spiders and "pop" she switch over and ran perfectly. She idles, revs smoothly through the numbers and seems to be happy as a clam. And of course like and SE, she starts right back up every time now.

Now I have to replace the clutch hydraulics. I had a couple of master and slave rebuild kits, but took the cylinders off and they are rusted solid. The previous owner said the slave cylinder was leaking, and the knuckle heads left the cap off the master cylinder... full of water. Guess I'll have to get a couple cheap NAPA or KRAGEN parts.

Than I get to break the clutch loose!

I put on some old rims I had, that still hold air. She almost looks like a car! Just wait til I primer her and she is one color!

I took pics and will post them when I get back to work on Monday.

lol, the clutch on ivan's gsl-se used to rust together too, and the upper half of the ring gear did too.

clutch never really rusted bad enough you coulndt drive the car, but it did sound like sandpaper when its slipping.

Had to order new master and slave cylinders (cheap parts to go on a cheap car). They should arrive shortly.

Thumbs up

Okay, so she runs and drives... kind of!

First run down and back up the street... good

Second run down and back up the street... out of gas! That sucked (I forgot I drained the tank of old gas and only put about a gallon in it... a week earlier). Now I have an ugly car dead in the middle of the street. I was able to tow it back and had to reprime the fuel lines.

The car made all the noises of a car that hadn't driven in 8 years. Lots of rust rubbing away. Tranny bearings made noise, rear end made noise, brake rotors made noise, even had a heat shield rub on the 225 tires in the rear.

I think it might be time for a tune up (plugs and wires that aren't from 5 different cars, fresh fluids all around). But it moved!

I mocked up some old body parts to add to the ugly beast. Hood with Scoop, and Mariah front bumper. What do you all think?

make it run and SELL SELL SELL!

I guess, I will entertain this option, if anyone is local and want to buy or trade... It is probably not worth shipping anywhere.

As you can see the parts are perfect... dusty and dirty! They have been sitting around for quite some time!

This car maybe great for a roll cage and a high speed impact into a tree!

Actually, it has been worth it for the fun of troubleshooting and getting it to run.
