I have a friend that has a 79 RX7 and his engine spews out white smoke when it starts. He had it diagnosed as apex seal, but usually white smoke means coolant and I dont understand how if the apex seal is bad, how the smoke is going to be white. Maybe someone else has had this issue before? What do you guys think.
The odo has 67k on the body and about half as much on the engine. What could cause this? Thanks in advance guys. |
i wouldnt be concerned if it clears after warmup..
get a compression check.. |
UUM. Forgive my ignorance, but how do you run a comp test on a rotary? The same way on a reg? You pull the spark plug and screw the comp tester in and crank it over? Whats an acceptable comp value for this engine?
|
90 and above I think, and you have to bump it to check the side seals I Think, its been a while
|
similar..
but youll need to remove the schrader valve off the compression gauge to be able to read each bounce.. youll need two people..one to crank.. the other to read the numbers off the gauge |
My 84 smokes during startup for about a minute then is fine. Has been doing this for quite a while. I would not be concerned.
