Ok per request I posted this up without the steering column section as it won't be ready for another month or so.

Good stuff. If I build another car I will take this swap into consideration.Providing the steering colum is just as simple. But I am a fabricator so I can make things work. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

The steering column is pretty straightforward. Just need one cutting and one weld. It's almost like it was made for this car.

How was the 5 lug swap on the rear of your car?I work at a Fab shop and could get the machining done at work.

Thanks

Is it possible just to redrill the stock SE axels?

bcrx7 01-03-2004 03:16 AM

not really b/c couple of holes come really close to the stock holes and that is not safe specially under heavy acceleration and braking.

Pinned!

Hey Omid, are you going to use the side mounts for the engine then?

So what are your plans on the rear for a 5 lug setup?9" ford rear or a FC IRS setup?

~Graham.

I'm modifying a first gen mount to fit the engine in.

I already have a 5lug setup in the back of my car right now. I modified the rear axles and welded some new flanges.

As for the IRS, when I do it it porbably will be a FD rear if I can find one.

So if I pulled the axles on my stock diff and got one of the millwrights at work to fab up some new flanges and have them welded on the stock axles where the old flanges sit I could redrill the stockers to a 5 lug the couldn't I?Interested if I ever have the urge to get crazy on another first gen project. With the FC front subframe in it you could 3 rotor it using the K2RD mounts for the FC then too? That would make one sweet Fb.Damn I need to buy a house and quit thinking like this when my GT-X project is so near completion. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Why? Isn't easier to just use the side mounts?

I'd rather front mount the engine myself. If you can do it, that will definetly sway me to do the subframe swap. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Well I could use the side mounts, but then I kind of screwed myself that way when I decided to use 12A side housings for my 13B 4port bridgeport. since 12a plates don't have holes for the side mounts. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

OIC.

Ok, cool. Whats your idea then?

I also have to front mount now because I've already gone to all the time and effort and $$ converting my 13B to a front mount. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png
