here is a dumb question: does the cooled water from the radiator exit at the bottom hose back to the engine? here is why: i have a 85 12a w/water oil cooler if the 3/4" rubber line off the bottom of the radiator to the water oil cooler is" the cooled water" then if i put a heater core with an electric fan on it in line i can further cool the water to cool the oil better........right? thanks R. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/blackeye.gif |
yes it does. here's how(appies to most cars)
The cooled antifreeze passes through the lower hose into the engine. as it moves upward through the engine it collects heat which is how the thermostat opens to allow the coolant to flow back into the radioator to start the process over again |
i figured as much but just wanted to be sure.
what do you think of the extra cooling to the water oil cooler? R. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif |
I'm really not sure how much of a deffierance it will make, putting in a lower temp thermostat, or adding an electric fan to ytour radiator will most likley yeild the same results you are looking for

Your efforts would be better spent getting an air oil cooler and ditching the water-oil one.

the stock water to oil cooler sucks ass it is big in the way and dos not work all that well. and if the seals go it leaks oil everywhere, the best way to go is with the fc air
to oil cooler works great!! and hears a hint go to a junk yard or anywhere the have a second gen rx7 and get the oil cooler and the lines you will need all the stuff that the cool lines atach to the engine with, you can use the stock lines from the fc on your fb! it takes some time and mounting it is the only prob. but it is cheap and verry effective pluss you will need the oil pedistle off the fc's engine to replace the water-oil cooler. if you have any questions about this just email me(not pm i never get those) at spiney360@yahoo.com. i have done this mod and can guid you through if you need me to. |
