Hey mate.

Using the a/c condesnor for water to air setup will not be sufficient. I have tried it and it just dosnt keep up.

I now have a Chevy Astro condensor. It passes 18 times IIRC.

your build is very similar to mine, and it is possible to make a budget peripheral port turbo build.

i am using a borg warner s475 with the 1.32 AR. It will offer very low backpressure, to allow for good spoolup. more importantly it is 600 dollars.

are you going single TB? ITB? what are your power goals? does it need to be quite?

it is very possible to make a 1.5 I.D. pipe idle under 1000 rpm. Mazdas factory peripheral port housings are bigger than that, and they idle under 1000 rpm. personally i would recomend giving your intake port a little shape. give it a flatter bottom, and it will have better low end power.

most of the problems associated with peripheral port engines and undrivability is due to the carburator. I would highly recomend not going that route. I am not an ECU expert, but efi is definatly the way to go.

for a streetable car, make sure you build your exhaust collector very effiently, with good wastegate placement. Also make sure your drivetrain can cope. Peripheral port turbo engines tend to spool so quickly and violently that if you dont have a very beefly drivetrain, it will all just break.

good luck.
