i was lead to believe u were getting a full cage, but looking at the picture u posted its a half cage. Now if u use a half cage with 4 point harnes (mind u back seats will be useless, not like they werent anyways (try fitting 4 adult sized ppl in the car. have done it but never again.)) back to the post.

otherwise take out the back seat and install the storage bins, so u can place the harnes' in there when they are no being used and still have a cage.

ps. if u decide to get a roll cage if it is done properly you'll also get a stiffer/taunter chasis more direct feel etc....

imo......go the cage.

Here is the seat I am thinking about

Dont get that seat, it SUX! Get a Sparco evo or evo2 if you're a bit fat... trust me on this, it's worth the extra money ! Plus you could sell it later for way more than you could a sprint.

Rollovers in themselves are a rare occurance. Considering that in a typical autocross you never leave second gear, I think your chances for a rollover type accident are slim to none. Also, considering that the driver understands that his safety will be diminished in a rollover with a harness and no bar, he *should* be more considerate of what beheviors and driving styles cause rollovers, and try to avoid them.

Has anyone here ever seen a rollover at a solo event?

Yep, I have. And my codriver almost rolled my R-100 DMod auto-x car on a 90 degree right hander. All I could see from the pits was the bottom and right side of the car! It was almmost up at a 45 dgree angle! He turned a little to the left and it came back down and he finished the run! Next event we had a Autopower roll bar, 5 point harness, Quickor custom made us a front sway bar, an RX3 rear sway bar rebent for the R-100's narrow rear end, and extreme lowering! Never had the issue again!

another...above carpet

Sorry if I'm a bit late on this post, but here in New Zealand, there's no way you'd ever be let into an event with the mounting points of those 2 harnesses so close together. If you're going to mount them to an eye bolt in the rear of the hatch, at least have them mounted in line with the centerline of the seat. That way the harness will be pulling inline with where you are seated, not off to the middle of the vehicle.

Right, thats the main issue but I don't think most of them are designed to work with stock belts. I mean the stock belt would go over top of the seat sides instead of through the holes that they put in them for harnesses. You never know, I could still roll the car autocrossing. Some of these lots are pretty bumpy. I could see myself fishtailing and rolling it.

I think best bet is to get a seat and a harness and use just the lap belt until I have money for a good rollbar. Actually that doesnt make any ****** sense either because on the street I'd be screwed in a front end collision with no shoulder belt.

Mount the shoulder belts to any solid object, straight back from the seat and with the belts as close to level as is possible. When you finally install a cage, make it look like the picture with the blue seat.

You want the belts short because they stretch a bunch under load. There are instructions with the belts. Just get it as close as you can until the cage comes.

A 5 point system is so far ahead of the stock belts that installation faults just don't matter.

If you race a car long enough, there will be one weekend when you take it home in a big garbage bag.

Make sure there are no big chunks of you in that bag.
