Does anyone have any input on oil type & mix ratios for small bore engines from the '60's? Regular two stroke oil has advanced to the point of accepting 40:1 as a reasonable premix for machines that in their day were requiring 20:1. In addition to my 3 RX powered cars, I have a '75 Suzuki RE5 (single rotor 500, uses engine oil from on board tank), a Sachs Dolmar chainsaw (only rotary powered saw ever produced) and a '69 SnoFury (single rotor Sachs) snowmobile. The saw & snomachine call for 40:1 engine oil (30 wt) back when they were new. Any comments on oil products in use 40 years later?
Thanks,
Seann

100:1 should be enough, it largely depends on RPMs and load. Regular 2-stroke premix oil, but you should try fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. Some people are using "castor" oil, again around 100:1 premix.
