Rx rebuild continued

back with a small update, today i took apart the turbo it came with, i think the turbo might of bin dropped or something was dropped on it. the waste gate lever (what ever you call it) seams to be bent.. i think its supposed to have a small bent but not as much as it does. also the bracket were it mounts on to the turbo seams to be bent....
im stuck on taking the compressor housing off. i want to check it out, make sure there isnt anything out of the ordinary. like i said im stuck. i cant get the housing off. there a special trick i should know about? anything i should look for?

New Guy Here!

Hello. I'm Tay. I was recently stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Just bought my first 7 the other day and while trolling RX7club.com, a link sent me here. I've owned alot of 240s, Supras and one minivan back in Washington State before I enlisted. Had a lot of project cars (SR20s, RBs, Big Singles, Rally cars, etc.), but this will be my first rotary! I plan on having it stay pretty mild as I don't have a garage here or a lot for tools (my small barracks room is hardly the place for a car enthusiast!) But I hope that I can learn from and eventually contribute to this site!

After 10 years I got my mojo back

12 years ago I bought an Rx7. My second overall. I have posted about it here before. It was an 85 base model. I loved that car. It was mint. Pics are in my sig. In 2000 I got married and sold it. I have regretted it ever since. I tried replcaing it with an 86 RX7, went through an AE86 phase. Had an SW20 MR2, even got an RX8 brand new in 2003. I thought I would have the RX8 forever, but my family and I moved from Boston to Houston. That was in 2006. Well today I got my mojo back. I found a mint 85 RX7 GS. I had to drive 5 hours to the Fort Worth area to get it, but I am sooo happy. I will never let this go!

SW iowa introduction 1980 RX7 LS

I live in SW Iowa and bought a1980 RX7 LS about 18 months ago for my high school daughter. It gets a lot of complements, but needs some mechanical and cosmetic TLC. I believe it's stock except for wear and maintence items. It's a black car with gold pin stripes; a perfect match for my 1975 Cosworth Twin Cam Vega and my 1980 Yamaha XS850 Midnight Special motorcycle.

I need to get the idle down to improve mpg and improve control in the snow. It's unfortunately an automatic, and I'm guessing the engine has a vacuum leak. I plan to go through the rats nest better this summer, or perhaps remove it. Headers and an improved exhaust are something I hope to do too.

I don't have a lot of faith in the OMP; and my go to an external OMP.

I’d like to find some good low back seat covers; or check into getting the leather driver’s seat re-upholstered.

Warm weather is just around the corner. Time to improve and enjoy!

Tony Hansen
