1980 12A All Stock,Carb. 87,400 original miles on engine

After cruising down highway around 90-100mph to a friends I shut off the car and went in to eat lunch. Came back out and the car wouldn't idle after start-up. Car idles erractically, and sputters at start-up. Started several times and finally got started to run. After running down road through the gears it runs awesome (alittle sputter in 1st gear).

On the highway the car runs excellent, but when you gear down to come to a stop-light or whatever the engine lopes, or is erratic and wants to die

I have checked the sparkplugs and replaced all 4, no effect, same erratic engine performance.
You start pulling off plug wires off the cap one at a time to check the plug/wire, no effect. I have noticed that when you pull a wire off the cap to check it I have a spark comming from the side terminal on the first coil from the front of the engine to the wire boot plugging into the coil. Spark arch very visible. Replace the wire at the cap and the spark arching at the coil dissappears.
I have checked hoses and vacum connections. Haven't found any leaks, but no effect.

I need some advise. I know how to work on vehicles, but these rotary's are different.

Thanks for any suggestions.

No power to leading coil

heres the skinny. just dropped my S4 turbo engine in and there is no spark. i check the wire leading to the leading coil and it had no power. i was told that i can get power from the fuses on the driverside strut tower. it now has power, but there is no spark. CAS? Could the ECU not have power when i crank it? i guess the main relay runs to the ECU and the Leading Coil. if the relay was messed up, i wouldnt have power to the coil or Ecu, right? Also where is this Main relay?

Went Full Synthetic In the boat today

So yea it's my birthday and I decided it was time to do an oil change since my amsoil synthetic oil showed up. I replaced both the diesel engine oil with amsoil synthetic marine diesel engine oil and the transmission with full synthetic. I had been leaning this way for quite sometime, if for no other reason then the fact that the synth oil won't mix with water like dino in the event some water gets in there. Also the tranny fluid synth dissipates a shitload more heat then regular dino.

12a PP intake runner length recommendations

I have 44.5mm (1.75") ports and I'm looking for recommendations on intake runner length. The car will see a blend of street and track use but predominantly street, so torque will be a factor. I would rather have decent torque than maximum hp. I'm not saying hp isn't important but I would prefer a happy medium.
The setup is utilizing a Weber 48 IDA with 44mm venturis.
I intentionally left the intake tubes a bit long so that I may cut them to desired length.
After I figure out the intake I'll work on the exhaust
Any and all help is appreciated.
