I know that I could do a search, but I'm lazy today. Does a car have to be re-tested when the ownership is transferred? If I pick up that TII and decide to drive it I may register it in my GF's name here in CA instead of in NY.

Any time a car is sold or transfered it is required to be smogged unless it has been recently smogged in the last 60 or 90 days, I forget which. It's the seller's responsibility to smog the car.

So if you feel like driving from cali to NY every year or 2 for inspection....... My plan right now is to get a few people together to buy just enough land in PA to put a mailbox post. Thisway we can reg. our cars there, have cheap insurance, ect. |

I could actually take the sticker off, and they probably wouldn't know the difference out here. I don't think they can write me a no inspection ticket. |

This whole smog thing here is a real pain in the ass.
I thinking about getting a spare motor and keep it as a "smog" motor just to swap out when needed. I don't have so many mods now that I can't ready the car in a day for a test but one of my cars will be getting rebuilt soon and I don't want to build it back stock. |

Thanks.
I'm finally good for two more years on the black car. I won't disclose how it passed on a public forum. (IMG:http://www.nopistons.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) The red car's registration is due in Feb. but I don't know if it will need to be smogged since it's new to me. Does anybody know how to track a cars smog record?? I've paid hella dues getting cars to pass smog this year. I hope I get a break this Feb. |
