Hey,

Glad to see a good deal of rotorheads showing up for what turned out to be a great meet. Rained a bit a the beginning but cleared up long enough to enjoy the show, judge the cars, give out awards and then it started raining not long after it was all over.

Hopefully all partiipants had a good time as well.

fd and fc at high point NJ

Yea so me and jw went to high point on this lazy saturday to help him put some miles on his car and what not. Road was somewhat slick but it was more or less just foggy until the way back it got a drizzle going on, FD can't keep traction in the rain unless i pussyfoot the gas pedal so no zoom zoom on the way back.

anywho touched up the pics a bit to bring out the colors and pull the fog out of the foreground.

Noise Laws...etc

Hey,

So in the past 2 years I've owned and driven 2 7's that you could call "noisy" (ported full exhaust bla bla)

So I'm currently driving my FD. Basically about a year ago a neighbor left a note on my car saying i need to fix my "illegal noisy muffler" and that im waking them up (i leave at 7:40ish am) and how if i dont do it I'll receive citations or whatever basically they'll call the cops.

Today I got my second letter, as follows:

"Dear Neighbor,
Could you please fix your noisy illegal muffler! This is our second request and we do not want to cause you any problems. Thank You"

Now I agree my car is loud, i dont argue that but I don't leave till 7:40ish, i come home at 5-6pm and after that my car rarely gets turned back on. I don't fly up and down the street, i roll down the hill in the morning only hitting the gas to get the car moving.

I'm pretty confident in my knowledge of the laws and I am pretty sure that all that would be done about a registered complaint is possibly a cop rolling around at around the time I leave who'll pull me over and wind up giving me a "noisy exhaust" ticket ($44, whatever i've learned to deal with that if i didnt i wouldnt own any 7's)

However, I would like to know if there are any more strict policies I may not be clear about. I'm pretty sure I don't have to deal with an on-the-spot inspection emissions wise nor visual, I'm also pretty sure they can't tow my car for a noisy exhaust.

Does anyone here know any different? Could they do a "sting" vehicle inspection? My route to work would avoid all possible roadside inspections as i travel like 2 miles maybe to work.

Basically I don't want to get my car towed or get stuck in an inspection debacle (emis*wink*sions). So i prefer to be aware of what i *COULD* be facing.

Altho it won't matter soon, the FD goes away for winter and by the time it comes back out it'll be registered as a "collectors" vehicle (i turn 25 finally and will be elligible for collectors car insurance) and I won't be subject to this harassment.

where have i been...

well i spent a week in aruba from 9/6-9/13

but other then that ive been missing due to a recent explosion of my side-business. I don't know what happened but all of a sudden i've become way overloaded with sidejobs at my home shop, seriously right now i have 3 cars in the lot which will be finished tomorrow night and then at the same time i have 3 more getting dropped off tomorrow night (one is a rx8 for an s/c install). This past month i've made more net profit (after factoring my personal labor as $60/hr), then i make in almost 2 months at my job, best of all is I enjoy the sidejob things more then the maintenance crap i do all day, altho i have some regular "maintenance customers" as well, my phone has become a ringing nightmare. Not sure what prompted this, I have been circulating through the evo, rotary, 240, scion, and VW local car circles, but i didnt realize so many people were looking to upgrade their cars, especially right now. Been working 9 hours a day at my dayjob and then from 5:30-10/11pm every night i've been doing my sidework. I've actually even "hired" a friend of mine (he does some of the "monkey" work in return for me building his turbo setup on his 95 r2, and teaching him how to do it at the same time) without his help id be dying.

soooo i've been considering trying to "get" unemployment to help get me more time for my sidebusiness without being financially unstable and trying to turn it into my main business. Already started looking at some buildings nice 3-bay with a decent office and nice sized lot, comes with an alignment rack and "mobile" AWD dyno setup.

And in the midst of all this I've become pretty proficient in tuning as well, street and dyno-wise. My FD recently hit 433whp on my own tune without blowing, wanna add my meth injection before really cranking it tho.

So yea sorry for my lack of presence around here, I know you all miss me badly but I will be back soon once im back to one job.

how's everyone else doing, any big news ive missed?
