Default Throwout bearing troubles

Hi everyone im having a mind-boggling time with this. OK its a 95 FD that i bought last month. It had a roaring throwout bearing so i dropped the transmission to replace it. The car has an upgraded ORC racing clutch. Well the thing is the throwout bearing that was in there was installed backwards, the bearing was against the pressure plate. I bought a new one and they look totally different. The one on the right is the one that came in the car when i bought it, the one on the left is the new one i bought from Mazda. The other problem is that the new bearing wont fit in the center hole of the pressure plate.. Im completely lost lol

Believe it or not i did look, but after reading your post i checked again and wouldnt you know i found the one that came with the kit, but the thing is im 99.5 % sure that the kit that was installed is for a push type. I have another question. Since the disk and flywheel are brand new, and i just got the correct release bearing, can i just order a pull type pressure plate? bc the one that was installed is a push type. Thanks again!

A little late to the party, but if it were my car, I'd start by putting it back to OEM. Replace that stupid clutch package and get one that's FD specific and that takes a pull-clutch.
Use that throw-out bearing, and I recommend replacing the clutch fork too. Depending on your hp level, there's any number of good clutch/pressure plate packages out there.
The previous owner appears to have 'fixed' something that wasn't broken.

Hi MazdaMech10 I know this is an old post but hope you can help. I am having the same exact issue. Bout a JDM FD3S that has an ORC clutch trying to replace the throwout bearing but does not look like a stock one. The one that is installed and defective looks like similar to the one you have in the pic on the right with the larger clips. Do you still have any info? Where to get the replacement throwout bearing or if you were able to get the oem one to work?
