Default cruise control surges

I took a long drive to the beach today and noticed the cruise surges at hwy speeds, almost like it doesnt know how much to open the throttle. It's nausiating on slight hills. It's not noticable in the cluster by watching the speed but it can be felt. Enough that it aggrivated the s**t out of me and made me sick. Before I get too deep into this i'm curious if anyone has seen this before. I know the speedo cable may be worn out since it bounces about 2mph on a flat road when you keep a constant speed. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

It depends, could be a 'burp' in the cruise control system due to the age of the car, could be the wiring, could be the cable... it's really hard to say here, but 2mph is quite a bit to be honest.

I test my cruise control from time to time when I'm on the freeway, it fluctuates a little bit but not by too much though... not exactly sure what your situation is like. =/

Maybe a quick video will help?

a video wouldnt do much since the cruise problem is a surge that's felt not seen. Im gona drive it to work later this week so maybe i'll take a vid of the speedo. I think the speedo cable is getting worn out. Every cable car i've owned the speedo will bounce at higher speeds until the cable is replaced. My suby i had awhile back the cruise speed signal came out of the cluster which was fed by the cable. So if that's the case with this car (idk since there's almost NO service data for this vehicle on shopkey or alldata) then the speedo cable may fix it. They arent expensive.

Throttle cable should be checked, so that's a good thing. But it may not be the cause of the surge.

i found out mazda still makes most of the parts. I know i need a throttle cable since mine is beyond stretched and cant be adjusted further. I'm going to get a speedo cable next week to fix the jumping speedo then step back and recheck the cruise. I'm taking my time to fix the little problems on the car. Most of it is small and doesnt prevent it from daily driving even tho i dont daily it but i do drive it occasionally
